4401 North Central

This 8,200 sf. building was built by Bell Telephone as a switch-gear facility and pre-assembled in Texas with all of the switch-gear and racks pre-installed. Although it was on a beautiful corner lot in an upscale residential neighborhood, when the phone company no longer had use for its technology, the windowless concrete bunker had no apparent use, therefore selling for a very low price. Prince|Alexander found that removing the precast concrete exterior panels opened large windows for new interior office day lighting. Subsequently, we created the new sidewalks and public entrance by creating new sidewalks and a bridge with the heavy concrete panels. The heavy duty structure and electrical systems allowed that significant portions of the structure could be removed to allow better plans for offices and operational efficiency.
