The addition and renovation to the Walton Public Library was completed in September 2005 at a cost of $1.1 million. Although the building originally faced a side street, the demolition of adjoining structures allowed the new construction to reorient the building toward the main highway through Walton. The new entrance also offered a solution to the need for a grade level entrance for ADA compliance and a secured lobby, so that portions of the building could be open at different times. The overall design elevates the historic value and importance of the original building.
