Construction began in 1999 for this new 115 bed Jail and Emergency Management facility. The building is constructed of concrete block and precast concrete, with (80) driven pilings which support the cell blocks. Two automated security panels were installed for primary and backup security and also boasts a keypad access system for all officers. This new facility houses Central Dispatch, EMS and the Sherriff/Jail. Construction lasted for (20) months, and was completed in 2001 for $4,500,000 (hard cost).
